The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA) and Tampa International Airport are working to deliver a new international terminal, Airside D. The new terminal is more than 600,000 square feet on two levels. 

CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

Project Description

HNTB serves as Lead Design Architect and Architect of Record on the project, working alongside design-build partner, Hensel Phelps.

It will include:

  • A new Automated People Mover (APM) shuttle guideway system
  • Two airline lounges with views of the airfield and the bay
  • A variety of new shopping and dining options with 360-degree views of all 16 gates
  • Large open space featuring intuitive wayfinding and natural lighting
  • FIS sterile corridor with views to the airfield
  • Robust baggage handling system (BHS) with outbound baggage screening and make-up and inbound international baggage reclaim
  • 8-lane TSA security screening check point (SSCP) with the most modern screening lane technology

Corporate Environmental Risk Management, LLC (CERM) was contracted by Hensel Phelps to provide Preconstruction Support. This includes the following services:

Estimating

This support includes estimating and scheduling. CERM reviews trade partner pricing and prepares comprehensive evaluations of trade partner proposals, scope risks, and opportunities on proposal summaries, provides document control, provides communications for preconstruction activities with subcontractors, and assists in the preparation of bid packages, coordinating bidder solicitations.

An Area Superintendent, responsible for establishing and achieving the project goals related to all areas of field management including schedule, budget, safety, quality and the development of personnel.

Project Engineer, responsible for all on-site project administration and for management of the office engineers and jobsite administrator (including training and mentoring)

An Office Engineer, responsible for supporting the field through materials management to maintain the project schedule and sequencing.
