CERM partnered with RS&H to form the Joint Venture known as
ATL Sustainable Aviation Partners (ASAP) 2035 JV. The ASAP 2035
JV team supports Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
(H-JAIA), an industry leader in sustainability.

Project Description

H-JAIA is located ten miles south of downtown Atlanta on approximately 4,700 acres. The airport is consistently ranked as
the busiest airport in the world, and one of the highest rated large airports in North America for airport performance and customer service. The Atlanta Airport contributes over $60 billion annually to economic impact in Georgia.

Services provided by CERM
The JV Project Team, is responsible for the development of a comprehensive strategy to maintain sustainable operations
and good business practices at the Atlanta Airport. JV services include annual sustainability reporting, monitoring the use of natural resources, providing consulting support to implement sustainable infrastructure such as electric vehicle charging
stations, and educating the public on sustainable practices at ATL. Since the inception of the sustainability contract in April
2023, the JV has:

  • Applied for and received over $11,000,000 in sustainability grant funding from the FAA and FTA.
  • Designed a public-facing branding package and new branding logo for the Atlanta Airport. CERM also redesigned
    the ATL Sustainability web page currently undergoing final development for upload to www.atl.com.
  • The JV updated the Atlanta Airport’s Climate Action Plan and Sustainable Management Plan. Additional plans for
    review include the Energy Management Plan, Water Master Plan, and the Zero Waste Plan.
  • The JV Project Team completed the 2022 and 2023 Annual Environmental, Social, Governance
    and Prosperity (ESG+P) Reporting.

The JV will continue to support ATL as a sustainable leader by:

  • Identifying opportunities to demonstrate new technologies and implement pilot projects to
    demonstrate efficiency and innovation in sustainable development
  • Documenting the Airport’s sustainability footprint on a continual basis to inform the DOA
    Sustainability Dashboard.
  • Developing a Public Relations Plan to include proactive public relations strategies to position
    the airport as an industry leader in sustainability.
  • Providing technical and expert support for sustainability strategic planning and public
    outreach meetings.
  • Developing a Sustainable Education program, including LEED and Envision Training.
  • Providing expertise and support with financial goals through grants and green finance
    options.
  • Assisting with the development of policies and procedures to establish green standards or
    other green resource consumption standards for new and existing facilities.
  • Developing a public engagement strategy for businesses, neighborhoods, elected officials,
    and youth.
